Definition used by samambai: GEO is the set of technical and content adjustments that makes a generative AI understand, trust and cite a company when someone asks for a recommendation. The term comes from the academic paper "GEO: Generative Engine Optimization" (Aggarwal et al., Princeton and other institutions, KDD 2024, https://arxiv.org/abs/2311.09735). In that laboratory study, rewriting pages that were already among the retrieved sources (citing sources, adding statistics and writing clearly) raised their share of visibility inside the answer by up to about 40%. The figure is not a measure of being found, and it is not a guarantee.
